The San Francisco & Sacramento Chapters
invite you to Tour, Shop & Lunch
Friday, April 1, 2016

According to the New York Times this January,“Handmade ceramics are white hot, perhaps as an antidote to rapid advances in technology.  The giant of the new ceramics movement is Heath Ceramics in Sausalito, Calif., which to the world of clay is what Stumptown is to coffee. Heath, which was founded in 1948 to produce midcentury modern housewares, is now a globally known outfit with 200 employees that sells about $20 million in products a year. This past October, it received a National Design Award from the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum.”

Senior product designer Ada Ko has invited us to tour the working factory and listen to her fascinating talk on table form, function and aesthetic. Heath tableware is a fixture at Dame Alice Waters' Chez Panisse. We will conclude with a delicious lunch at Copita with own Dame Joanne Weir as Maestra de Cocina. Our lunch will be prepared by Chef Daniel Tellez, former executive chef at Anona Neobistro in Mexico City and who is quickly catapulting Copita’s reputation to be among the best Mexican restaurants in the Bay Area.

The event begins at 11 am. There is plenty of parking adjacent to the factory, located at 400 Gate Five Road, Sausalito. Heath is pleased to extend a 20% discount to us as a one-time-only professional courtesy.
NOTE: Please wear closed-toe shoes!

Cost for the program and lunch is $50
We're limited to 30 attendees, so a prompt RSVP is advised, click here to register.
